Leadership, community, and adventure.
Sea Scout Ship 1 of Greenwich provides opportunities for young men and women, ages 12-20, to learn new skills, build a community, and become a leader, all while embarking on exciting adventures at sea.
Our Mission
Sea Scout Ship 1 of Greenwich continues the more than 100-year old Sea Scout mission of teaching young adults seamanship and leadership.
Our Sea Scouts lead their own Sea Scout program! Our scouts plan and conduct a program that improves the boating and sailing skills of its members through instruction and practice, while adult leaders guide and support their efforts. This model provides opportunities and challenges that are unlike any other program.

Our History
Sea Scouts was founded in 1912 and grew by establishing units (called Ships) all across the country on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. For over 100 years, Sea Scouts has promoted better citizenship and improved boating skills through instruction and practice in water safety, seamanship, community service, social experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage.
Our Location
Our Sea Scout Ship 1 of Greenwich program is extremely fortunate to be based on the Long Island Sound. This versatile and ecologically diverse body of water offers our Sea Scouts access to an outdoor classroom that is second to none.

Sea Scout Ship 1 of Greenwich is chartered at Indian Harbor Yacht Club which generously provides classroom space, as well as the use of some of its sailing fleet. Meetings and lessons are held in the Jr. Sailing building at Indian Harbor Yacht Club every two weeks, while sailing occurs more frequently, weather permitting.
